How to Create a Quiz Funnel For Lead Generation

When it comes to lead generation tactics within your business, are you having fun or feeling stuck? Coming up with new and exciting ways to reach new clients can sometimes feel like a run around, but with quizzes it doesn’t have to!

Quizzes have a 96% completion rate, which makes them an excellent tool and powerful tool to use within your business. Creating a quiz is a quick and fun way to harness new leads for your business, rack up emails for your email list, and engage with your audience (as well as potential new clients). Part of creating a quiz for your business is creating a quiz funnel.

In this post, we are going to cover what a quiz funnel is, why you should create one, and exactly how to create a quiz funnel for lead generation.

What is a marketing funnel in general?

Before we cover quiz funnels, let’s talk about marketing funnels in general. While there are plenty of different types of funnels, the premise is always the same. In a funnel, your potential client will go through various stages offering them a free or paid product or service.

Here are the most common basic steps:

  1. Lead Attraction: Your potential client enters their contact information somewhere on your site in exchange for a piece of content- whether that be a free PDF, training video, or other offering. This will add them to your email list.
  2. Low-Priced Offer: Your potential client has the opportunity to purchase a low-priced product that will provide them with value without breaking the bank.
  3. Higher Priced Offer: After your potential client has purchased your lower priced offer (and loved it), you can offer them your higher priced offer that provides even more value.

Your goal is to get potential clients to complete the first step of the funnel and become leads. A percentage of people will purchase your first offer, a percentage of those people will buy your second offer, and the cycle continues. 

What is a quiz funnel?

A quiz funnel will segment your leads by interest and put them into different categories based on said interests. At the end of the quiz, you’ll provide your potential client with product or service recommendations based on their quiz responses. 

Unlike a traditional marketing funnel, you will be pointing your audience towards your quiz rather than a free product or service. A quiz funnel will also show them results that are tailored to their specific wants or needs based on their responses.

How do you create a quiz funnel for lead generation?

There are 5 sections to a quiz funnel. All of these sections can be made using a variety of different online tools, as well as applications that allow you to create them all in one place.

  • Landing page
  • Quiz questions
  • Results 
  • Call to Action
  • Follow Up

Landing Page

Your landing page is where you are going to hook in your ideal client. It should appeal to the ideal customer using concise messaging and a clear call to action. This is the place to include social proof from others who have taken the quiz, and tell potential leads where and how your quiz can help them learn more about themselves, solve a problem, or improve something in their life or business.

Quiz Questions

Arguably the most important part of your quiz is going to be the quiz questions. After all, what’s a quiz with no questions? The questions you’re asking will determine how successful your funnel is, so thinking these questions through is important.

Here are a few helpful hints for organizing and planning your quiz questions:

Mix Things Up

Have a good ratio of simple questions to thought provoking ones. You’ll keep your audience engaged and guessing until the end!

Be Clear

Avoid using language that will confuse your audience so they don’t quit on you mid quiz.

Don’t Over Do It

Only ask the questions that you need to ask! Be cognizant of how many questions you’re asking. More people will be likely to finish your quiz if there are between 10-20 questions.

Choose Easy Formatting

Format your quiz in a way that is quick, easy, and fun- like a multiple choice quiz!

Results Page

Once your potential client takes your quiz, they’ll be taken to the results page. Be sure that the way you’re presenting them with their results is easy to understand and will help them make informed decisions on how they want to work with you or make use of your offerings.

It’s important to inform people why they got the results that they did and what brought you to suggest what your quiz is suggesting. If you’re providing feedback in this way, try to be as specific as possible to provide them with value. The more advice and guidance you can offer a potential client, the better.

Call to Action

Your call to action is where you will specifically point your potential client to one of your products or services. It’s the perfect place to do so without being salesy or gross in your delivery because it is a natural next step in the funnel.

Here, you can point potential clients to a relevant offer based on their results, invite them to book and one on one call with you to chat more about their options, and offer up other great content you feel would support them based on their results. 

Follow Up

Don’t be discouraged if people don’t buy a product or enroll in a program from your results page- not everyone will! This just means you have to follow up!

An email sequence is the best way to follow up with leads and keep them engaged with your content post-quiz.

Using one of the many email marketing tools on the market, you should create a sequence of about 4-6 emails that you’ll funnel your potential clients through after they’ve taken your quiz. These emails can be a mix of long-form text emails, links to videos and other pieces of content, and any other small anecdotes that feel appropriate to share with your audience.
